Is it summer vacation yet?

It has been a little while since I posted, so I suppose that means it is time for an update. I just finished up doing some homework on a Friday night. Boy isn't my life exciting. I have a paper and project due the beginning of this coming week, so it was necessary, but again, not fun. Actually, I find the topics of my papers/projects interesting, seeing I get to pick them and all, but I am having a hard time getting the motivation to actually do the work. Fortunately, basically everything I am doing this semester relates to the refugee/immigrant population, so that is helpful. Getting these two things done will pave the way for future projects...or so I hope.

Seriously, I have been a little stressed lately. I am trying my hardest not to be. It comes and goes. My days are just so long and when I come home I don't really get a chance to relax, instead I do school work and go to bed. And if I "relax", I am really thinking about all the things I should be doing. I need to fit a social life in there somewhere, but it hasn't been happening much lately. We are told that it is important to take time for ourselves and meet our needs, but how am I supposed to do that with everything that I have to do?!? But I am having a "girls night out" with some friends tomorrow so that should be fun.

So what fun things have I done lately? There really is not much to tell. We had a super bowl party for the youth at our church the other week, or whenever that was. That was fun. I went home this past weekend, which was mostly fun. I got to see family and friends which is always good. But the whole cramming in 7 hours of driving into one weekend is a little stressful in itself.

School, work, practicum, school, work, practicum, school, work, practicum. Ok you get the idea. That is my life right now. I do enjoy it though, for the most part. But this cold weather is messing with my health, and I am no longer going to the chiropractor, so I haven't felt my best recently, which makes everything harder. Blah.

Wow isn't this entry uplifting. I am sure things will look up. Everything will get done and life is good. Right? I really can't wait until summer break, and no I am not taking summer classes!!! I will just work and save up some money and enjoy having more of a social life. Hooray. Though, I should also try to enjoy the present as well. Ok, I will do that. Starting by getting some much needed sleep!!

Oh, I don't think I have mentioned on here that I have my advanced practicum placement set for next school year, which will start in August. I will be at Catholic Charities, working in their Immigration Legal Services department. After a couple visits there, I am really excited about it. I will have a great supervisor. It is also conveniently located between my house and campus and Americana (where I will still be working). So commuting won't be an issue!

Wow, Maria. You're juggling a lot! Good luck balancing it all out and finding time for yourself as well. Just remember it'll be worth it when it's all done.

YEAH... for Catholic charities! I'm glad you're taking a girls night out. It doesn't sound like you have that opportunity often.

I'm glad the communting won't be an issue, but will not being Catholic be an issue? I guess they do help people who aren't Catholic too, so that's cool. Relax girlie! At least we get nice vacations!
